Chakwal is the capital and main city of Chakwal District, Punjab, Pakistan. It is located 90 kilometres south-east of the federal capital, Islamabad and 270 kilometres from the provincial capital, Lahore.

Chakwal is former tehsil of Jhelum District.Chakwal is located in the Dhanni Region of the Potohar in northern Punjab, Pakistan. During the Mutiny of 1857 Chaudharials(of sarpak) of Chakwal strengthened the hand of the British Raj by escorting the treasury from Chakwal to Rawalpindi and got the khilats and Jagirs.

آپ کا تعلق بھی کرولی پیراں تھا۔ قیام پاکستان کے قبل آپ ڈیرہ غازی خان کے علاقہ میں پولٹیکل تحصیل دار کی حیثیت سے خدمات سر انجام دیتے رہے۔آپ ایک باعمل بزرگ تھے۔آپ نے اپنے پسماندہ علاقے کے سینکڑوں افراد کو روزگار فراہم کرنے میں مدد دی۔آپ کو اعلیٰ پیشہ ورانہ خدمات کے اعتراف میں ،، خان صاحب،، کا ٹائٹل حکومت برطانیہ کی طرف سے عطا کیا گیا۔ تحصیل جام پور میں انڈس ہائی وے پر آج بھی آپ کے نام پر گاؤں ،، اڈا چراغ شاہ،، آباد ہے۔
